Booking questions

  • How can I make a taxi booking?

    CabTime provides several methods for booking a taxi. The best option is to download the CabTime passenger app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. You may also book a ride through our website. When you book beforehand, this is the best option.

  • Why can't I get a quotation for my trip on the website or the app?

    We sometimes do not have vehicles in particular coverage zones therefore, users will be unable to receive a quote. However, for more complex bookings, feel free to email us and we will provide you with a formal quotation.

  • Can I cancel my booking?

    We appreciate that you may need to cancel your booking. To cancel a booking without incurring a fee, a 24-hour notice is required. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice will be charged. If you cancel upon arrival or while the driver is en route to your pick-up location, you will be charged the full fare.

  • I have booked online but received no email confirmation?

    Check your junk folder, this can sometimes happen with Hotmail, Yahoo, Bing email accounts. If you still can not find the email, please contact us right away by email or telephone.

  • Can we bring our car seats?

    Of course, you can. You may bring your car seats. We offer a take & carry back service. If you have a return trip booked, we can store your car seats safely and bring them back on the return journey. In case of this scenario, please label the seats with your name and address.

  • Can I book multiple vehicles?

    If you have a complex booking, email us with your requirements and we get back to you with a quotation.

  • Are there any extra charges to travel to London?

    The quote you receive on our booking service will not include the following charges when travelling into London City: Congestion Charge, ULez Charge, any other toll charge applied by the City of London.

  • Is there a time limit for making an online booking?

    If you book online, please give us at least 6 hours notice. Bookings can be made up to 6 months in advance.

  • Are your vehicles equipped for disabled passengers?

    We can arrange special vehicles for disabled passengers. Bookings can only be made by emailing us your requirements. We will then source the correct vehicle.

  • Can we book with multiple pick-ups and drop-offs?

    The best way to make a complex booking is to contact us by email or call us during opening hours.

  • Is your service 24 hours?

    Yes, our fleet operates 24 hours a day. However, our telephone booking lines are only open between 09:00 AM - 03:00 AM (18 hours)

  • What happens once we have submitted our booking online?

    Once you have made a booking with us, you will receive an email and SMS alert to confirm your booking. The email will contain your booking details and further instructions. You are responsible for providing the correct details.

  • What happens after the booking is confirmed?

    We will send an SMS alert and email with details on how to track your driver. We recommend you download the CabTime passenger app to get the best experience.

  • How can we amend a booking?

    It's essential if you need to amend your booking you do this as soon as possible. The deadline to amend your booking is 24 hours before pick-up time. You may be charged for the previous booking in FULL after this deadline to carry out the changes to your original booking.

  • If my driver is late, what shall I do?

    Don't panic. The driver may have got stuck on the way. Always remember some things are out of our control such as road emergencies, GPS signal drops etc. Your driver will be on the way, and you will always have a contact number for the driver. You can call or email us if the driver is more than 30 minutes late. On the CabTime passenger app, you can call, message and track the driver. Use the CabTime passenger app for the best experience.

  • Is it possible that I misplaced something in the car?

    Email us with your booking reference number, so we can trace your driver and check our lost property area to see if any goods have been turned in.

Licensing questions

  • What is a private hire licence (PHV)?

    This is the license required to operate a licenced private hire vehicle. Your local city council issues it in the form of paper and a badge.

  • What format do you require documents to be uploaded in?

    Please take a photo of your original documents and attach them to your online application.

  • What types of vehicles are accepted by the city council for licencing?

    We operate in Reading, Berkshire and the council requires vehicles to be up to 5 years old for new vehicle licences.

  • How do I apply for a private hire licence?

    Visit https://www.reading.gov.uk/business/licences/taxi-licensing/ to apply for a Private Hire licence and gain more information and the vehicle licence as well. The documents you need and the registration process are explained in detail on the site.
